By Karen Ronney

San Diego: When thinking about professional excellence for the San Diego tennis community, only one individual can fit that description. It is Corey Hardick of CH Court Tech, who has been a supporter of so many clubs, facilities and organizations in San Diego and across the West Coast.

Hardick, the President and Owner of CH Court Tech Inc, received the Industry Excellence of the Year Award from the RSPA San Diego Division. He was honored at their convention at Barnes Tennis Center. CH Court Tech is a premier, full-service sports court construction and surfacing company. Hardick and his team are highly regarded industry specialists known for constructing, resurfacing, and maintaining elite-level tennis and pickleball courts across California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Arizona.

The Beginning

Hardick found his passion to join the court construction world as a young child working alongside his father and brothers in the late 1970s. After high school he was undecided about a career choice. He knew court construction was in his blood and offered to learn about the business by helping Greg Caledonia at Advantage Tennis Courts. Corey spent the next decade honing his skills. Then Greg semi-retired and Corey opened CH Court Tech. He started doing clubs and private courts, and word of mouth helped his business grow. He has now expanded to the West Coast and Hawaii.

Southern California Support

In Southern California, Corey is responsible for resurfacing and repairing many clubs, universities and schools including La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, San Diego Tennis and Racquet, Rancho Sante Fe, Lomas Sante Fe and Barnes Tennis Center to name a few. He also works with colleges such as SDSU. UCSD, USD and UCLA. In the high school world, he has resurfaced schools in the Grossmont, Sweetwater and San Diego Unified School Districts.

Under Hardick’s leadership CH Court Tech has served residential, commercial, government, and school clients since its founding in 1994. Hardick is fully licensed in general contracting and engineering and is widely recognized for his high-profile sports court installations, including:

  • Professional Tournaments: Installing the state-of-the-art Laykold systems for the ATP 250 and WTA 500 San Diego open at the Barnes Tennis Center.
  • International Competitions: Serving as court installers for prestigious global events like the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup.
  • Pro Franchises: Constructing courts utilized by World Team Tennis franchises such as the Aviators and Breakers.

Services Offered by CH Court Tech

If you are looking to build or repair a court, Hardick’s firm specializes in:

  • Tennis & Pickleball Construction: Full-service grading, concrete work (utilizing post-tensioning systems), fencing, and lighting.
  • Resurfacing & Conversion: Converting traditional tennis courts into multi-court pickleball layouts or applying high-grade color systems and windscreens.

Last year Corey and his firm did over 500 pickleball and tennis courts and his perhaps the No. 1 court contractor in the Western U.S. But his influence doesn’t stop there. He supports tennis organizations, education conferences and tennis programs. He helps provide equipment to underserved high school teams and donates to a variety of community groups and organizations like the RSPA. He also sponsors networking lunches for tennis pros, clubs and industry leaders to share knowledge.

In his own words, “I didn’t know a hobby would turn into a career. I’m happy to do a great quality job so people can enjoy the courts.”
