Tennis Providers: Reach Out and Say Hello

By Karen Ronney, Editor

Our greatest challenge as tennis professionals is combating the “Out of sight, Out of mind” reality as we begin to approach the time we can reopen our courts.  Our tennis clients have been off the courts for about a month.  No matter their circumstances, we want to remind them we are ready for them when they can return to action.  How can we do that? We can stay in touch with our students, families, peers and coworkers via email and Social Media. Here are some ideas

1. Start an Email Campaign:  Reach out to your tennis community to say hello. Let them know you are thinking about them. Pose a question and ask them to share how they are spending their at-home time. Offer tips and tennis ideas through USTA Net Generation. CLICK HERE

2. Post Photos on Social Media of Previous Events: Share past memories of great times with your clients via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or email. It can serve as a reminder to why they love playing tennis.

3. Communicate with management and peer teaching professionals. Stay in touch with your peers and supervisors regarding their well being, and talk about safety measures moving forward. Share information and tips that are relevant and helpful.

4. Hold virtual events: Use Zoom, Google or other resources to hold virtual face-to-face meetings and events. If it’s business, make it a conference call. If it is social, make it a “happy hour” meet and greet.

5. Safety is key. As we move toward reopening clubs and facilities, start making plans for a Safe return to the courts.
